Liverpool, August 2025 — A striking new interactive exhibition titled “Code of the Universe” has premiered in the University of Liverpool’s historic Quadrangle, offering visitors a luminous journey into the mysteries of physics and cosmology. The display blends science and art in immersive storytelling.
Comprising 40 illuminated panels, the exhibit poses fundamental questions—What is the universe made of? What laws enable life? Why does something exist rather than nothing? Each panel reflects a groundbreaking inquiry from the world of particle physics.
To enhance engagement, the exhibition launched alongside an augmented reality (AR) app developed by Liverpool researchers. The app transforms the static display into an educational narrative, extending experiences beyond the physical space into mobile “home mode,” making it ideal for schools and science outreach.
Professor Carsten Welsch, who led the initiative, emphasized the exhibition’s dual aim: to cultivate wonder and to demonstrate how basic research catalyzes real-world innovations—from healthcare to energy.
Open at no cost until September 18, 2025, the exhibit is expected to attract families, students, and educators, enriching Liverpool’s vibrant scientific outreach scene.
The exhibition dovetails with the city’s upcoming British Science Festival, offering a perfect lead-in to science-themed public engagement and dialogue.
