The European Association for International Education (EAIE) has appointed UK-based sustainability consultancy Green Circle Solutions (GCS) to measure, reduce, and manage the environmental impact of its annual conference and exhibition in Gothenburg, September 2025.
With over 7,500 attendees from more than 100 countries expected, EAIE sought a partner with deep event industry expertise and proven tools to address the scale and complexity of sustainable event delivery.
“We spoke to a lot of consultants, but what stood out about Green Circle was their events industry knowledge,” said Sabrina van Spijker, EAIE manager of events and sustainability initiatives.
GCS was recommended to EAIE by one of its exhibition contractors for its expertise in the sector and its ability to provide carbon calculators for exhibitors, suppliers, and attendees.
The EAIE’s sustainability campaign, #EAIEGreenGoals, encourages year-round mindful behaviours, promotes responsible consumption at the conference, and seeks to leave a lasting positive impact on the sector and the planet.
“Last year was our first year with truly reliable benchmark data,” said van Spijker. “Now, we can track trends, measure real reductions, and know where to improve. With Green Circle’s honest and practical guidance, we’re not just aiming for Net Zero, we’re making it feel achievable.”
EAIE is now a signatory to the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative, committing to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and 90% by 2050.
“For Green Circle Solutions, this partnership shows what’s possible when sustainability is led from the top and backed by credible data,” added David Humphreys, director at Green Circle Solutions. “Together, we’re setting a benchmark for large-scale, international events.”
