ExCeL London has marked the finale of its 25th anniversary celebrations with the unveiling of a striking new permanent artwork that celebrates the people behind the events industry.
The UK flagship venue has revealed a large-scale photo mosaic made up of more than 7,000 individual images, paying tribute to the organisers, exhibitors, suppliers, partners and visitors who have helped shape ExCeL London over the past quarter of a century.
Created by renowned London-based artist Helen Marshall, founder of The People’s Picture, the artwork spans an impressive 30 square metres. Marshall is internationally recognised for her iconic photo mosaics, including major public works featuring Queen Elizabeth II, and her latest installation continues her signature style of storytelling through collective imagery.
Titled Face to Face: Connecting Lives, the mosaic is constructed entirely from photographs submitted by members of the events community. Each image reflects personal memories, experiences and connections to ExCeL London, coming together to form a powerful visual representation of collaboration and shared history.
The artwork now takes pride of place as a permanent installation within the venue, reinforcing ExCeL London’s role as a hub for global events and human connection. By turning thousands of individual moments into a single unified piece, the mosaic highlights the people-centric nature of the events industry and the lasting impact of face-to-face experiences.
As ExCeL London looks ahead to its next chapter, Face to Face: Connecting Lives stands as a lasting tribute to the community that has driven the venue’s success for 25 years and continues to shape its future.
