Hyderabad’s HCP Launches World Photography Day Exhibition

Hyderabad, August 19, 2025 – The Hyderabad Centre for Photography (HCP) inaugurated its World Photography Day exhibition with strong support from Telangana Tourism and the Indian Photo Festival. Showcased at the State Art Gallery in Madhapur, the event spotlights the work of 44 emerging local photographers, selected from over 550 entries. Curated by Aquin Mathews—HCP director and founder of the Indian Photo Festival—the exhibition celebrates photography as a vital medium for cultural expression and storytelling.

Featured works include Vedika Bonavurthy’s poignant image from the Bonalu festival, honoring Telangana’s cultural pulsation, and Nishat Fatima’s intimate portrait series developed during the COVID era—capturing resilience and reflection. The exhibition runs until August 26 and marks the beginning of the Indian Photo Festival’s 11th edition, which will unfold from November 20 to January 4, 2026—a showcase of India’s vibrant photography scene and Hyderabad’s growing role as a cultural hub.
