IICA Organizes National Conference & Exhibition on Leveraging CSR Excellence for Tribal Development

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) hosted the second edition of the National Conference and Exhibition on Corporate Social Responsibility (NCCSR 2025) on October 6–7, 2025, at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi. Themed “Leveraging CSR Excellence for Tribal Development,” the event brought together over 500 stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to explore innovative models for empowering tribal communities through responsible business practices.

The conference was inaugurated by senior dignitaries, including the Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs. In his address, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of aligning corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the development needs of tribal populations, highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.

Strategic Dialogue and Knowledge Sharing

NCCSR 2025 featured six high-level panel discussions covering topics such as sustainable livelihoods, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development in tribal regions. These sessions provided a platform for experts to share insights and best practices, fostering collaboration between various stakeholders.

A notable highlight was the Live Social Innovation Lab, where participants engaged in real-time problem-solving exercises to design scalable solutions for challenges faced by tribal communities. This interactive session underscored the importance of co-creation and community involvement in CSR initiatives.

Exhibition of Best Practices

The exhibition showcased 30–35 stalls featuring CSR projects that have made significant impacts in tribal areas. Organizations like TRIFED, HCL Foundation, UNICEF, and IOCL presented their initiatives, demonstrating how technology and innovation can be harnessed to address the unique challenges of tribal development.

One exemplary project highlighted was the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana, which supports tribal entrepreneurs in value addition of forest produce, thereby enhancing their income and preserving indigenous knowledge. Another notable initiative was the Eklavya Model Residential Schools, which aim to provide quality education to tribal children, bridging the educational gap in remote areas.

Release of CSR Best Practices Compendium

A significant outcome of the conference was the release of a National Compendium on CSR Best Practices, which documents successful models of CSR interventions in tribal development. This compendium serves as a valuable resource for organizations seeking to replicate effective strategies and scale their impact in tribal regions.

Networking and Collaboration

The event facilitated networking opportunities among corporates, government agencies, NGOs, and tribal leaders, fostering partnerships aimed at sustainable development. Discussions centered on integrating CSR efforts with government schemes like the PM Van Dhan Yojana and the National Action Plan on Business & Human Rights, ensuring a holistic approach to tribal welfare.

Commitment to Inclusive Growth

NCCSR 2025 reinforced the government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat @2047”, where tribal communities are integral to the nation’s progress. The conference underscored the need for a collaborative approach, combining the strengths of various sectors to achieve inclusive and sustainable development for tribal populations.
