Inaugural International Smart Space Exhibition Attracts Over 257,000 Visitors in Hangzhou

The inaugural International Smart Space Exhibition (ISSE), held alongside the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE), drew massive crowds to the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Center from 25–29 September 2025. Organisers reported over 257,000 visits, making it one of Asia’s largest showcases for smart space technology.

ISSE featured approximately 160 brands displaying solutions across “Intelligent Buildings and Smart Parks,” “Urban Public Spaces,” “Smart Commercial Spaces,” and “Smart Living.” The event combined product showcases with guided tours and international business matching sessions, attracting visitor groups from around the globe.

Delegations from South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, UAE, and various Chinese provinces attended to explore collaboration opportunities in smart city development, digital infrastructure, and intelligent systems integration. Notably, representatives from Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, participated in the opening ceremony, emphasizing cross-border technology exchange.

Exhibitors highlighted cutting-edge applications such as gerontechnology, metaverse-integrated commercial spaces, and energy-efficient smart office environments. Dr. Freeman Wang of Shanghai Léwin Intelligent Technology Co Ltd noted that approximately 30% of attendees were international, with many expressing strong interest in the integration of smart technologies into everyday life. Micheng Wang, CEO of HONYAR, emphasized the potential of digital technologies to enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational management in architectural spaces.

Feedback from international buyers, including Mr Un Bon Park from South Korea, highlighted the insights gained into China’s AI, big data, and smart city implementations. The exhibition featured 11 forums discussing green buildings, energy conservation, carbon reduction, intelligent operations, smart parking, standardization, and opportunities for overseas expansion.

A major highlight was the ISSE International Smart Space Summit, focusing on data-driven innovation, urban renewal, and sustainability, offering attendees in-depth perspectives on the evolution of smart spaces globally. Co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and Hangzhou Expo Group, ISSE has already set a benchmark for future editions, scheduled for 23–27 September 2026.
