India Maritime Week 2025: India Maritime Week Charts India’s Maritime Future

India Maritime Week 2025 kicks off as India Maritime Week emerges as a pivotal platform in shaping India’s maritime trajectory. Scheduled from October 27–31 in Mumbai at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon, the event promises to bring together maritime leaders, policymakers, innovators, and investors from across the globe.

In a high-level review meeting in Mumbai, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal alongside Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane, assessed logistics, security, and stakeholder coordination to ensure seamless execution of the mega event.

India Maritime Week is expected to attract over 100,000 delegates and 500 exhibitors from more than 100 countries, making it one of the largest gatherings in the maritime domain. From ministerial delegations to global institutions like the IMO and UNESCAP, this week-long forum will serve as a launchpad for fresh collaborations in shipping, port infrastructure, logistics, and decarbonisation efforts.

At the presser, Sonowal described India Maritime Week 2025 as a platform to “translate ideas into projects and commitments into partnerships,” emphasizing India’s resolve to lead in the maritime sector with sustainability, innovation, and global cooperation at its core.

The event aligns with India’s broader Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and Maritime India Vision 2030, reinforcing priorities such as carbon neutrality at ports, modernisation of inland waterways, and export of maritime services. Inland waterways cargo movement has already expanded eightfold since 2014, and turnaround times at major ports have been cut by 60 %.

In the run-up to the Week, Maharashtra CM Fadnavis appealed to the Centre to establish a permanent maritime development centre in Mumbai, citing the state’s strategic coastal advantages and existing infrastructure as justification.

Major Indian states — Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu — and marquee industry players such as Adani Ports, Cochin Shipyard, and Paradip Port Authority are slated to participate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend, delivering the keynote address at the Global Maritime CEO Forum, while Home Minister Amit Shah may also be present.
