International Railway Equipment Exhibition 2025 is now underway after being formally inaugurated by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi — elevating the event as Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest railway expo.
Over 450 exhibitors spanning more than 15 countries are participating in this three-day event, showcasing cutting-edge railway, metro, and sustainable transport technologies.
At the inauguration, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the government’s commitment to rapid railway modernization. He noted that the railways currently invest ₹2,56,000 crore annually to upgrade network infrastructure and services. He added that in the past eleven years, India has developed 35,000 km of new track and electrified 46,000 km of railway lines.
Highlighting India’s emergence in rail exports, the minister pointed out that locomotives built in India are now being shipped to African nations, underscoring the country’s growing manufacturing strengths in the sector.
The exhibition features prominent displays including the Amrit Bharat and Tejas coaches, Vande Bharat train, Namo Bharat metro, and Kolkata Metro equipment. These exhibits allow domestic manufacturers to present India-developed rail technologies on a global stage.
Also present at the event, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, commented that this expo fosters strategic partnerships and aligns India’s rail technology sector with global investors.
