Catcha Digital Bhd has announced a strategic expansion into the food and beverage (F&B) exhibitions segment through the acquisition of Constellar Exhibitions Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The deal, valued at RM3.97 million, will be executed via its 60%-owned subsidiary, One International Exhibition Sdn Bhd.
The acquisition marks a significant milestone for Catcha Digital as it diversifies its business-to-business (B2B) exhibition portfolio. Constellar Exhibitions Malaysia is best known for organising the Malaysian International Food & Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB), a long-standing industry platform that has served the regional F&B sector for more than 25 years. The event is widely regarded as one of ASEAN’s leading trade fairs for food and beverage professionals, attracting exhibitors, buyers, and stakeholders from across the global supply chain.
By bringing MIFB under its umbrella, Catcha Digital is positioning itself to capitalise on the growing demand for specialised trade exhibitions in Southeast Asia. The company noted that the acquisition will not only enhance its presence in the high-growth F&B sector but also create opportunities for cross-industry collaboration within its existing events ecosystem.
According to the company, the integration of Constellar’s operations is expected to unlock several operational synergies. These include the consolidation of sales networks, improved efficiency in venue sourcing and contractor management, and a more streamlined, cohesive approach to executing large-scale exhibitions. Such efficiencies are likely to strengthen profitability while enhancing the overall experience for exhibitors and attendees.
Currently, One International Exhibition organises key industry events such as Agri Malaysia, which focuses on agriculture and related technologies, and co-organises MBAM OneBuild through a 49% joint venture with the Master Builders Association Malaysia. The addition of MIFB complements this portfolio by introducing a strong foothold in the F&B vertical, further broadening the company’s sectoral reach.
Industry observers view the move as a timely expansion, given the resilience and continued growth of the F&B sector in ASEAN. Trade exhibitions like MIFB play a crucial role in facilitating business matchmaking, product innovation showcases, and knowledge exchange, making them vital platforms for both regional and international players.
