ESCA Prepares for 2026 Summer Educational Conference in Canada
The Exhibition Services & Contractors Association (ESCA) has announced new program details, educational sessions, networking activities, and travel information for its highly anticipated 2026 Summer Educational Conference. The event will take place from June 28 to July 1, 2026, at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
The updates were shared during ESCA’s recent “Know Before You Go” webinar, providing attendees with a comprehensive overview of what to expect at one of the exhibition and events industry’s leading annual gatherings.
Bringing together exhibition contractors, suppliers, venue professionals, and industry leaders, the conference will offer valuable educational opportunities, networking experiences, and discussions on key topics shaping the future of the exhibitions sector.
Industry Experts to Lead Educational Sessions
ESCA’s education program has been carefully designed to address some of the most important issues currently impacting the exhibitions and events industry, including venue operations, labor relations, mergers and acquisitions, artificial intelligence, economic trends, and leadership development.
The conference officially begins on Sunday, June 28, with board and council meetings, attendee registration, badge collection, and an opening networking reception.
On Monday, attendees will hear from keynote speaker Monica Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cider Association, who will share insights on leadership and organizational growth.
A major venue-focused panel discussion will feature leading industry experts, including Chris Schimek of Freeman, Mark Tester from the Orange County Convention Center, Freddie Peterson of the Miami Beach Convention Center, and Larita Clark of McCormick Place. The session will explore evolving venue strategies, operational challenges, and opportunities within the exhibitions industry.
Monday’s agenda will also include presentations from Marsha Flanagan, President and CEO of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), who will discuss industry engagement, workplace safety, and the latest exhibition industry data and trends.
Artificial Intelligence and Economic Trends Take Center Stage
The second day of the conference will focus on innovation, business growth, and market outlooks.
Renowned economist Anirban Basu will provide attendees with an analysis of current economic conditions and future trends affecting the events and exhibitions industry. His insights are expected to help organizations navigate changing market conditions and identify emerging business opportunities.
Artificial intelligence will also be a major focus of the conference. Nick Borelli of Zenus will lead a dedicated session examining how AI technologies are transforming event management, attendee engagement, and business operations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in specialized breakout sessions covering mergers and acquisitions, AI-powered prompt engineering, and economic forecasting. These interactive sessions are designed to provide practical knowledge that organizations can implement immediately within their businesses.
Leadership, Advocacy, and Labor Relations Discussions
Wednesday’s program will shift attention toward leadership development, industry advocacy, and workforce management.
Deb Gabor will present a session focused on competitive bidding strategies, helping businesses strengthen their market position and improve proposal success rates.
Hope Goldstein will address labor relations and workforce challenges, providing attendees with valuable guidance on managing labor partnerships and navigating evolving employment issues.
Tommy Goodwin from the Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance (ECA) will discuss advocacy initiatives impacting the exhibitions industry, while leadership expert Danny Goldberg will conclude the educational program with insights into effective leadership and organizational success.
Collectively, these sessions aim to equip industry professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving marketplace.
Networking Opportunities Showcase the Beauty of Banff
In addition to educational content, ESCA has planned a variety of networking experiences that take advantage of Banff’s stunning natural surroundings.
Monday afternoon activities include fishing excursions at Lake Minnewanka, visits to the world-famous Lake Louise, and networking lunches at Fairmont Banff Springs. While several activities have already generated strong interest, ESCA noted that waitlisted attendees may still have opportunities to participate as schedules change.
Tuesday’s networking program includes the popular Quest Events Golf Tournament, hosted at the renowned Stanley Thompson Golf Course at Fairmont Banff Springs. Attendees can also experience the Above Banff Gondola attraction, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies.
Unlike previous years, Tuesday evening has intentionally been left open, allowing participants to explore Banff independently, connect with peers, and experience the local culture and attractions.
Closing Celebrations and Scholarship Fundraising
The conference will conclude on Wednesday evening with several signature events, including the Peaks and Pours Reception, a silent auction hour, and the official closing reception held in the Cascade Ballroom.
This year’s closing celebration will feature an “O Canada” theme in recognition of Canada Day, providing attendees with a memorable conclusion to the conference.
The silent auction will serve as a key fundraising initiative for the ESCA Scholarship Fund, which provides academic and need-based scholarships to ESCA members and their families. Organizers have established an ambitious fundraising goal of $25,000 for the 2026 auction.
ESCA also highlighted the Dennis Hale Memorial Scholarship Program, which honors the legacy of Dennis Hale, former Executive Director of CORT Events and a respected ESCA board member who made significant contributions to the exhibitions industry.
Important Travel Information for Attendees
ESCA reminded attendees that valid passports are required for entry into Canada. Most participants are expected to arrive through Calgary International Airport, located approximately 90 minutes from Banff.
Conference organizers recommend arranging shuttle transportation in advance to ensure smooth travel to the resort. Attendees planning to rent vehicles should also be aware that a Banff National Park pass is required for entry into the park area.
Participants can earn 8.25 Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) recertification hours by attending the conference. ESCA also encourages attendees to download the official event app when released and recommends bringing layered clothing, comfortable walking shoes, business cards, and reusable water bottles to maximize their conference experience.
With a strong educational lineup, engaging networking opportunities, and one of Canada’s most scenic destinations as its backdrop, the ESCA 2026 Summer Educational Conference is set to deliver valuable learning experiences and meaningful industry connections for exhibition professionals from across North America.
