Rwanda is going to host Aviation Africa Summit 2022 starting from September 12-13. The event will assemble government officials, aviation leaders, policymakers, manufacturers, and exhibitors across the world. The event will be focused on the renewal of the aviation sector after Covid 19 pandemic and will discuss key topics including maintenance, sustainability, future technology, and safety.
But before hosting the summit, Rwanda will also host the 1st World Airports Infrastructure, Equipment, and Services Exhibition (SMIESA) starting from 12 to 13 September.
The summit and exhibition will run for two days and will be attended by more than 1000 airport and aviation officials.
The event’s goal is to prompt technology transfer in Africa by promoting the establishment of manufacturers including equipment and service providers as well as promoting African airports and concerning services.
During the events, stakeholders of the aviation sector will speak about their experiences as well as lessons from the past. They will also discuss how they can accelerate the industry, promote sustainability and improve customer experiences.
Both of the events, Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition are co-organized by Times Aerospace Events, and Union des Gestionnaires d’Aéroports d’Afrique Centrale et de l’Ouest (UGAACO) and co-hosted by Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) and Rwanda Airports Company (RAC) and officially supported by RwandAir which is the African airline sponsor.
CEO of RwandAir, Yvonne Makolo said that the airline is very proud to officially support this year’s long-awaited Aviation Africa Summit 2022 in the home hub of Kigali and the officials warmly welcome all the participants.
She further added that the reputation of RwandAir for safety and service supremacy has helped in encouraging Rwanda’s expanding aviation sector which will become the main contributor to Africa’s economic success in the future.
Moreover, she said that they are committed to opening up Africa to the growing aviation sector of the continent and offering more routes and competitive fares to all the customers in Africa as well as across the world.
The Director General of Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority, Silas Udahemuka said that the summit will help Rwanda to make a position among key players in aviation, especially in the African continent, and also in promoting the development of seamless innovation and collaborations.
Charles Habonimana, the Managing Director of Rwanda Airports Company said that it is exciting for Rwanda to host the first-ever SMIESA. The event will positively influence the travel sector, tourism and labor market, transport sector, and overall business in general, and will ensure the continued use of Rwanda airports in the future. He added that the industry has been heavily impacted by the pandemic but he is sure that participants will come up with quick wins which will help them in full recovery and prosperity.
SMIESA and Aviation Africa Summit 2022 will include activities like an exhibition of aircraft manufacturers, MRO providers, training facilities, numerous airport items, and services; Sharing of information and experiences; and networking and deal negotiations.
Participants will explore opportunities in the country in an organized cultural day at the end of the day.
