Shri Giriraj Singh to Inaugurate 74th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) on January 23, 2026

New Delhi, India: Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles, will inaugurate the 74th edition of the India International Garment Fair (IIGF) on January 23, 2026, at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony will be followed by an address from the Minister, underscoring the Government of India’s continued commitment to strengthening the country’s apparel and textile export ecosystem.

Recognised as one of Asia’s largest and most influential garment trade fairs, IIGF has consistently served as a vital platform connecting Indian MSME apparel manufacturers with global buyers, reinforcing India’s position as a preferred sourcing destination for ready-made garments.

Strong Global Participation Expected at 74th IIGF

The 74th IIGF is expected to witness robust participation, with over 235 exhibitors from 13 Indian states showcasing their latest collections and manufacturing capabilities. The fair will also welcome more than 650 international buyers from 65 countries, highlighting the growing global confidence in India’s apparel industry and its sourcing strengths.

This strong turnout further reflects India’s expanding footprint in international apparel trade and its ability to meet evolving global demand through quality, compliance, and innovation.

IIGF 2026 to Play Strategic Role in Boosting Apparel Exports

Commenting on the upcoming edition, Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and the International Garment Fair Association (IGFA), stated that the 74th IIGF marks a significant milestone for India’s garment sector, particularly at a time when the global apparel industry is navigating economic and geopolitical challenges.

He emphasized that the fair will play a strategic role in accelerating garment exports by enabling market diversification, encouraging design-led innovation, and strengthening the global appeal of ‘Made in India’ apparel. The platform is especially crucial for MSMEs, offering them direct access to international buyers and opportunities to build globally competitive brands.

Empowering Indian Manufacturers for Global Scale

Dr. Sakthivel further noted that by fostering engagement across diverse international markets and empowering Indian manufacturers to scale operations, the 74th IIGF is expected to contribute meaningfully towards building a more competitive, innovative, and globally integrated apparel industry.

The fair continues to act as a catalyst for long-term partnerships, knowledge exchange, and export growth across the apparel value chain.

India’s Apparel Export Performance Highlights Sector Resilience

Highlighting the broader export landscape, AEPC stated that India’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports in FY 2025–26 stood at approximately USD 16 billion, with Indian apparel reaching nearly 186 countries worldwide. The council reiterated its focus on deeper integration into the global value chain through value-added production, sustainable manufacturing, and enhanced compliance—areas where global brands are increasingly expanding sourcing from India.

Despite ongoing global disruptions, India’s apparel export sector has demonstrated resilience. Cumulative RMG exports from April to December FY 2025–26 reached USD 11,584.3 million, registering a 2.4% growth compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.
