Lightbox Gallery Opens Brand-New Exhibition Space in Oakleigh

Lightbox Gallery has launched a brand-new exhibition space in Oakleigh, situated in the foyer of the Oakleigh Library at 148 Drummond Street. This new gallery aims to spotlight digital, illustrative, and photographic art forms in a fresh, illuminated format.

The Lightbox Gallery brand-new exhibition will officially open on Friday, 7 November 2025 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, with a free ticketed event inviting the community to celebrate the launch. The inaugural exhibition features works by Monash-based artist Nani Puspasari, who will deliver an Artist Talk about her journey, international residencies, and the importance of community support for creatives in Monash.

About the New Gallery Space
The Lightbox Gallery is integrated into the Oakleigh Library foyer and uses illuminated lightboxes to transform walls into vibrant storytelling canvases. The concept is to merge the physical library setting with dynamic visual art to engage viewers in new creative ways.

The opening exhibition runs from 1 November 2025 to 5 January 2026, accessible during regular Oakleigh Library hours.

Opening Exhibition & Artist Talk
Nani Puspasari’s works showcase digital and illustrative styles. Her Artist Talk at the launch will shed light on her practice, her travels, and how she navigates art within community contexts. Visitors will also have the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and gain deeper insight into the pieces on display.

Light refreshments and drinks will be provided during the opening.

Why This Exhibition Matters
This Lightbox Gallery brand-new exhibition represents a push toward making art more accessible in everyday community spaces (like libraries). By embedding digital and illustrative works into a public, shared environment, the gallery aims to bridge access to art and inspire creatives across different levels.

The illuminated lightbox format also offers a distinct viewing experience — artworks appear vivid and immersive in ways that typical gallery lighting may not allow.

What Audiences Can Expect

  • Immersive display of digital and illustrative works via lightboxes
  • Artist Talk & interaction with Nani Puspasari

As Oakleigh’s cultural landscape expands, the Lightbox Gallery brand-new exhibition space stands to become a notable venue for emerging, mid-career, and established visual creatives. It’s an exciting addition to local arts infrastructure that encourages creative expression, dialogue, and connection.
