Mega Exhibition on New Criminal Laws in Jammu

In a significant educational initiative, Jammu & Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat inaugurated a three-day mega exhibition on new criminal laws in Jammu. The event aims to inform citizens, students, and professionals about the latest reforms in India’s criminal justice system.

The exhibition brings together panels, charts, and digital displays explaining the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which recently replaced colonial-era laws.

Organized by the J&K Police in collaboration with legal experts, the exhibition serves as an awareness platform for the public to understand their rights and responsibilities under the new laws. Law students and young advocates are expected to gain particular benefit from the initiative.

One of the highlights is an interactive digital kiosk, where visitors can explore case studies, hypothetical situations, and FAQs to see how the new laws would apply in real-life contexts.

The event also includes live sessions with senior judges, prosecutors, and police officials, explaining how the updated legal framework ensures faster justice delivery and victim-centered approaches.

Special attention has been given to educating marginalized communities and rural citizens about how these reforms empower them. Awareness booklets and brochures in local languages are being distributed to ensure inclusivity.

The exhibition is drawing large crowds, reflecting widespread curiosity about the new laws and how they will shape law enforcement and justice in the coming years.

By combining education with public participation, the exhibition stands as a model for spreading legal literacy and civic awareness at the grassroots level.
