Hosting more than 1,000 MICE-related events annually, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, a premier year-round exhibition and entertainment destination, setting a new benchmark for eco-conscious event management. By aligning its operations with the ISO 20121 Event Sustainability Management System, IMPACT is integrating a local “farm-to-function” supply chain and a robust circular economy model to become a leader in environmental stewardship in Asia.
“At IMPACT, we champion environmental stewardship across our operations, and oursustainability strategy focuses on three core pillars: Local Sourcing, Waste Circularity, and Community Empowerment,” said CEO of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd Paul Kanjanapas.
Pillar 1: The ‘Farm-to-Function’ Supply Chain
Unlike traditional venues, IMPACT has taken direct control of its supply chain through Anant FARM and IMPACT FARM, operated by its parent company, Bangkok Land Public Company Limited,” as a fair trade buyer who carefully selects and offers high-quality, in-season produce along with seafood products to customers as well as providing direct market access for local farmers.
Local Sourcing: In partnership with the Nonthaburi Chamber of Commerce, IMPACT prioritizes ingredients from local vendors, significantly reducing “food miles” and carbon emissions. Additionally, IMPACT now offers premium Plant-Based Menus using seasonal, organic produce, all while maintaining rigorous ISO 22000 food safety standards.
Pillar 2: Zero-Waste Management
To combat the MICE industry’s food waste challenge, IMPACT has implemented an ambitious, actionable system, comprising:
-
- Surplus Redistribution: Edible surplus food is donated to local non-profits, supporting food security in surrounding communities.
-
- Waste-to-Resource: Inedible waste-including organic scraps and peels-is processed into high-quality organic fertilizer used to maintain the green spaces and on-site farms within Muang Thong Thani.
-
- Plastic Elimination: IMPACT has transitioned to 100% compostable disposables, including biodegradable bags and utensils, sourced from eco-aligned partners.
Pillar 3: Community Empowerment
The Center’s initiatives empower local communities by strengthening the long-term sustainability of small businesses, delivering capacity-building workshops for local SMEs and vendors, and creating flexible employment opportunities.
CEO’s Vision: Discipline Meets Sustainability
“Sustainability at IMPACT is not just a policy; it is operational discipline. Through careful planning and responsible procurement, we can operate in harmony with the environment. We empower organizers and event planners to host their events sustainably. Eco-friendly events are not just possible, but preferable,” concluded Paul.
