Seoul, Sept. 9 (Yonhap) – Samsung SDI Co., one of South Korea’s leading battery manufacturers, unveiled a lineup of advanced energy storage systems (ESS) at a major renewable energy exhibition in the United States.
The company presented its innovations at Renewable Energy Plus 2025 in Las Vegas, running from Tuesday to Thursday (local time). The exhibition serves as a platform for Samsung SDI to highlight its U.S.-focused production capabilities and customized solutions designed for the rapidly expanding American ESS market.
At the heart of its showcase was the Samsung Battery Box (SBB)—an all-in-one ESS package integrating battery cells, modules, and racks within a 20-foot container. Two new models were introduced as part of the portfolio update.
The SBB 1.7 model delivers a 17 percent boost in energy density compared to its predecessor, the SBB 1.5. Meanwhile, the SBB 2.0 was presented as a next-generation option, designed with lithium iron phosphate technology to offer improved safety and a more competitive cost structure.
Company officials emphasized that Samsung SDI’s deep expertise in prismatic battery technology, combined with its expanding U.S. manufacturing base, positions it to strengthen its foothold in what is currently the world’s largest ESS market.
“By leveraging both advanced technology and local production capabilities, we aim to reinforce our leadership in delivering efficient, safe, and cost-effective energy storage solutions,” a Samsung SDI representative said.
