5th National Spice Conference 2026 Concludes in Jaipur with Focus on Farmers, Food Safety and Market Access

The 5th National Spice Conference (NSC) 2026 concluded in Jaipur on September 20, bringing together farmers, exporters, processors, regulators, researchers and other stakeholders to discuss the future of India’s spice industry, with a strong focus on farmer empowerment, food safety, sustainability and market access.

Held on September 19–20, 2026, at the Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre, Rajasthan, the two-day National Spice Conference 2026 was organised by the World Spice Organisation (WSO), the not-for-profit technical partner of the All-India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF).

The conference was organised around the theme “Empowering Farmers, Protecting Consumers,” highlighting the importance of strengthening the entire spice value chain, from cultivation and processing to domestic consumption and international trade.

National Spice Conference 2026 Brings Spice Industry Stakeholders Together

The National Spice Conference 2026 brought together a broad range of participants from across the spice ecosystem. Farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), processors, exporters, regulators, researchers, technology providers and other value-chain stakeholders participated in discussions during the two-day event.

The gathering provided an industry platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, identify emerging challenges and explore practical approaches to improving the competitiveness and sustainability of India’s spice sector.

With India being a major producer and exporter of spices, discussions around productivity, quality, food safety and market connectivity remain important for the long-term growth of the sector.

Farmer Empowerment Takes Centre Stage

One of the key areas of discussion at the National Spice Conference 2026 was the need to strengthen farmer participation and improve economic opportunities across the agricultural value chain.

The conference highlighted the importance of helping farmers gain better access to markets, knowledge, technology and responsible sourcing opportunities. Stronger connections between farmers and downstream industry participants can support greater transparency and create opportunities for improving value realization.

Farmer Producer Organisations also formed an important part of the broader conversation, particularly in relation to collective production, market access and engagement with processors and buyers.

The discussions reflected the growing need for closer collaboration between primary producers and other participants in the spice industry.

Food Safety and Consumer Protection Highlighted

Food safety was another major focus of National Spice Conference 2026. The theme “Empowering Farmers, Protecting Consumers” placed consumer confidence alongside farmer welfare as an important priority for the sector.

The conference examined the importance of maintaining quality and safety throughout the spice value chain. From cultivation and post-harvest handling to processing and distribution, each stage plays a role in ensuring that spice products meet expected quality and safety standards.

For exporters, consistent quality and compliance are particularly important as Indian spices serve markets across the world. Strengthening systems that support responsible production and food safety can help the sector respond to changing market expectations.

Focus on Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing

Sustainability also featured prominently during the National Spice Conference 2026. Stakeholders discussed the need for responsible practices that can support both farmers and the long-term resilience of the spice industry.

The discussions covered issues connected with sustainable production, responsible sourcing, technology adoption and collaboration across the value chain.

As global buyers increasingly pay attention to sustainability, traceability and responsible sourcing, the Indian spice sector is facing a growing need to integrate these considerations into production and supply-chain practices.

Exhibition Showcases Technology and Agri-Products

A dedicated exhibition was an important part of the National Spice Conference 2026, showcasing technologies and indigenous agricultural products.

The exhibition provided participants with an opportunity to explore solutions relevant to agriculture and the wider spice ecosystem. Technology providers and other exhibitors demonstrated products and innovations aimed at addressing challenges across farming, processing and the agricultural value chain.

Such platforms can help connect technology providers with farmers, processors and other industry participants while encouraging greater awareness of emerging solutions.

Buyer–Seller Meet Strengthens Market Linkages

The National Spice Conference 2026 also featured a dedicated Buyer–Seller Meet, creating an avenue for direct interaction between producers and buyers.

The business-focused platform enabled participants to discuss potential commercial opportunities and develop relationships across the supply chain. Direct engagement between buyers and producers can play an important role in strengthening market access and improving connections between different parts of the spice ecosystem.

For farmers and producer organisations, such interactions can provide greater exposure to market requirements, while buyers can gain access to potential suppliers and agricultural products.

Innovation and Collaboration Drive Industry Discussions

Beyond individual challenges, the National Spice Conference 2026 highlighted the importance of collaboration among different stakeholders.

India’s spice sector includes farmers, FPOs, processors, exporters, research institutions, regulators, technology companies and buyers. Coordinated efforts among these groups can help address challenges related to production, quality, food safety, sustainability and market access.

The conference provided an opportunity for these stakeholders to exchange perspectives and explore approaches that can contribute to a more connected and resilient spice value chain.

India’s Spice Industry Looks Towards Stronger Market Connections

The discussions at National Spice Conference 2026 come at a time when the spice industry is navigating changing market expectations and increasing emphasis on quality, safety, sustainability and traceability.

For Indian producers and exporters, strengthening market connections and improving quality throughout the supply chain can remain important for maintaining competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

The conference also reinforced the role of knowledge-sharing and industry collaboration in helping stakeholders respond to these changes.

National Spice Conference 2026 Reinforces Integrated Spice Value Chain

The conclusion of the 5th National Spice Conference 2026 in Jaipur highlighted the importance of taking an integrated approach to the development of India’s spice sector.

From farmer empowerment and food safety to sustainability, technology and market access, the conference brought several interconnected priorities into focus. The participation of stakeholders from across the value chain provided a platform for discussing challenges and exploring practical opportunities for the industry’s future.

The event’s theme, “Empowering Farmers, Protecting Consumers,” underlined the connection between a stronger agricultural base and greater consumer confidence.

As India’s spice industry continues to evolve, collaboration between farmers, producer organisations, processors, exporters, regulators, researchers, technology providers and buyers is expected to remain important in building a more sustainable and market-connected value chain.
