On Thursday, Akasa Air, got the air operator certificate (AOC) or license by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Now, the airline will begin to fly at the end of this month. Soon, Akasa will have two Boeing 737 MAX and have Indian aviation experienced authority Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh on board, the airline will begin its commercial operations.

Among the big airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoFirst, AirAsia India, and Air India Express, Akasa air is number fifth in the Indian budget carrier airlines. Overall it will be the number eight big airline apart from the full-service Air India and Vistara, the only government-owned fixed-wing airline regional carrier Alliance Air.

Meanwhile, Jet2.0 got its AOC on May 20, 2022, but it has not yet placed an order for the aircraft. The sustainable renewal of Jet2.0 is completely dependent on the ability and Willingness of Jalan-Kalrock to gather a significant amount of funds regularly and bear losses for the first few years.

Vinay Dube, founder, and CEO of Akasa Air said that they are extremely thankful to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and DGCA for their helpful guidance throughout the AOC process. Now, the officials are seeking to open their flights for sale leading to the start of commercial operations of airlines by the end of this month. This will begin the journey of the airline to become India’s greenest, most sustainable, affordable, and dependable airline.

Akasa Air’s airline code is QP and received its first aircraft B737 MAX on June 21, 2022. At the end of this month, the airline will start its commercial operations with two aircraft, subsequently adding more aircraft every month.

The airline will have 18 aircraft by the end of fiscal 2022 – 23 and thereafter, will have 12-14 aircraft every year which will sum up to 72 aircraft in the upcoming five years.

The permit of an AOC is the final step in the launch of an airline. After conducting several proving flights to show its operational readiness, the process ended with the airlines successfully.
