Designing and manufacturing three innovative safety barrier solutions, Dutch Barrier Services (DBS) has successfully expanded its specialist crowd management range for Roskilde Festival 2026, delivering enhanced audience safety, improved operational efficiency, and better stage aesthetics. The company supplied more than 1,500 meters of safety barriers across the festival’s iconic Orange, Arena, and Laguna stages at Dyrskuepladsen, Denmark, during the July 2026 edition.

Dutch Barrier Services introduced three newly developed barrier products at Roskilde Festival for the first time, reinforcing its proprietary crowd barrier portfolio launched in 2022. Working closely with the festival organizers throughout the planning process, DBS customized its solutions to address specific crowd management challenges faced by one of Europe’s largest music festivals.
With an attendance of approximately 130,000 visitors, Roskilde Festival requires highly reliable crowd control infrastructure to ensure the safety of audiences, artists, security teams, and event staff.

According to Liliengren, Dutch Barrier Services participated from the earliest planning stages, providing expert guidance throughout the project. He noted that installation and dismantling were completed exactly as planned, while the newly introduced All-Terrain Barrier delivered excellent performance and significantly enhanced the overall barrier system.

Close Collaboration Leads to Innovative Barrier Design
Stanley Jilesen, Senior Account Manager at Dutch Barrier Services, explained that the company has worked closely with Roskilde Festival over several years, regularly visiting the event and understanding its operational requirements.
He emphasized that Roskilde Festival is admired for its unwavering focus on public safety and proactive approach to crowd management. Together with the festival team, DBS identified several common challenges experienced across large-scale festivals and collaborated with its manufacturing partner to create new barrier solutions specifically designed to address those issues.
Because DBS works closely with its manufacturing partner located near its headquarters, the company was able to rapidly design, develop, test, and manufacture custom safety products tailored to the festival’s needs.
New Security Walkway Maximizes Audience Space
One of the major innovations introduced at Roskilde Festival 2026 was the redesigned Security Walkway Barrier.
The previous walkway system required approximately one meter of additional space behind the barrier, reducing audience capacity and limiting stage layout flexibility. The new design occupies the same footprint as a standard barrier while maintaining a fully functional raised platform for security personnel, medical teams, and production crews.
This improvement provides additional viewing space for festival attendees without compromising operational efficiency or staff safety.
All-Terrain Barrier Enhances Safety on Uneven Festival Grounds
Since festival sites rarely offer completely level ground, Dutch Barrier Services developed the All-Terrain (AT) Barrier, engineered specifically for uneven outdoor environments.
The barrier features a specially designed floorplate incorporating dual horizontal hinges, allowing the barrier line to closely follow natural terrain while maintaining structural stability.
Roskilde Festival became the first large-scale deployment of this newly certified product. According to DBS, the system performed exactly as intended, significantly reducing the need for wooden packing blocks traditionally used beneath barriers on uneven surfaces.
The result is a stronger, safer barrier line that minimizes trip hazards while improving overall crowd safety.
New Bar Barrier Corners Improve Food and Beverage Service
Dutch Barrier Services also introduced specially engineered Bar Barrier Corner units, designed to eliminate service gaps typically found at bar corners.
The continuous serving surface allows visitors to place orders from any position around the bar, increasing serving efficiency while improving customer flow throughout busy festival periods.
Wider Cable Gates Improve Accessibility
Although not a brand-new product, DBS also installed its increasingly popular 1.5-meter Cable Gates at Roskilde Festival for the first time.
These wider access gates provide improved routing for ADA cable ramps, making front-of-stage areas more accessible while simplifying operational logistics for production teams.
Barrier Colors Improve Stage Presentation
Beyond functionality, DBS also focused on improving the visual appearance of the festival infrastructure.
The company manufactured additional black barrier systems, allowing the Arena Stage to feature a fully coordinated black barrier setup, while the world-famous Orange Stage retained its signature silver barrier design.
The thoughtful color coordination enhanced the overall visual presentation of each stage without affecting functionality.
Sightline-Friendly Front of House Structure Installed
Dutch Barrier Services also supplied its Sightline Friendly Front of House Structure at the EOS Stage.
Featuring transparent upper panels, the structure significantly improves audience visibility compared to traditional front-of-house installations, allowing spectators to enjoy better views of the performances while maintaining all operational requirements.
