The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has reinforced its position as one of the UK’s leading business event venues after securing 91 new conferences and meetings over the past six months. The newly confirmed events are projected to generate almost £50 million in future economic impact for Edinburgh while attracting nearly 54,000 delegates to the Scottish capital.
91 New Events to Boost Edinburgh’s Business Tourism
The latest event bookings highlight the continued strength of Edinburgh’s business events sector. The conferences and meetings, many of which include multi-year agreements extending through 2031, are expected to bring thousands of international delegates to the city, supporting local hotels, restaurants, transport providers, and tourism-related businesses.
The long-term bookings also demonstrate growing confidence among international associations and event organisers in Edinburgh as a premier destination for global conferences and conventions.
Medical Conferences Drive the Largest Economic Contribution
Medical and healthcare conferences accounted for the largest share of new business, contributing more than £17 million in projected economic impact. The achievement comes during a landmark year for the city, as the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh celebrates its 300th anniversary in 2026.
In addition to healthcare events, the EICC secured a strong pipeline of conferences across sectors including Finance and Investment, Education, Charity, Information Technology, and Innovation, reflecting the venue’s diverse appeal across multiple industries.
Major International Conferences Confirmed
Among the headline events confirmed for the Edinburgh International Conference Centre are the International Marine Conservation Congress 2026, the World Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage Conference 2026, and The Aerosol Society – Drug Delivery to the Lungs conference.
The Aerosol Society has maintained a long-standing relationship with the venue for more than 21 years and has now extended its partnership with a multi-year agreement covering events from 2029 to 2031, highlighting the venue’s reputation for delivering successful international scientific conferences.
