Exhicon Wins Bid to Develop Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mohali Under PPP Model

Exhicon Events Media Solutions Limited has been declared the winning bidder for the development of a large Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mohali, Punjab under a Build–Operate–Transfer (BOT) Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Government of Punjab. The project marks a major milestone for the company as it expands its footprint into long-term event infrastructure development.

The new convention and exhibition facility will be developed in the IT Parks area of Mohali, positioning it as an important business and events hub in North India. With this strategic project, Exhicon aims to strengthen its presence in the exhibitions and events industry while creating long-term value for its shareholders.

Government of Punjab to Provide Land for the Project

Under the project structure, the Government of Punjab will provide 13.57 acres of land in the IT Parks area of Mohali for the development of the Convention & Exhibition Centre. Exhicon will be responsible for the design, construction, operation, and long-term management of the venue.

The partnership between the state government and Exhicon reflects the increasing role of public–private partnerships in developing large-scale event infrastructure across India.

Integrated Hospitality and Retail Components Planned

The Mohali Convention & Exhibition Centre project will feature more than just exhibition halls. The development plan includes integrated hospitality and retail components, allowing the venue to host a wide range of events and activities.

These additional facilities will create multiple revenue streams, including:

  • Exhibitions and trade shows
  • Conferences and corporate meetings
  • Entertainment events and concerts
  • Hospitality services
  • Retail and venue services
  • Social and cultural events

Such a multi-purpose event venue is expected to significantly enhance Mohali’s position as a destination for large-scale national and international events.

₹75 Crore Investment for Phase 1 Development

The first phase of the project will involve an estimated investment of ₹75 crore. The development will focus on building a modern convention and exhibition destination capable of hosting large-scale exhibitions, conferences, concerts, summits, and social events.

The new facility will help address the rising demand for professional event infrastructure in the Chandigarh–Mohali region, which has emerged as one of North India’s important economic corridors.

With the rapid growth of industries, startups, and corporate activity in the region, the demand for international-standard exhibition and convention facilities has increased significantly in recent years.

Mohali Emerging as a Key Events Destination

The Mohali Exhibition & Convention Centre is expected to play a key role in positioning the region as a major hub for business events, trade exhibitions, and international conferences.

The project will also support the broader economic ecosystem by attracting business visitors, investors, and global companies to the region. Additionally, the development of integrated hospitality infrastructure will boost the local tourism and hospitality sectors.

Industry experts believe that the new venue could become one of the most important event destinations in North India once fully operational.

Project Completion Expected by October 2027

According to the development timeline, Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by October 2027. Once operational, the facility will be able to host a wide variety of large-scale events, providing world-class infrastructure for both domestic and international organizers.

The project aligns with Punjab’s broader vision of promoting investment, business growth, and global connectivity through improved infrastructure.

Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2027 to Be Hosted at the Venue

The upcoming Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2027, organized by the Government of Punjab, is proposed to be hosted at the new Mohali Exhibition & Convention Centre in March 2027.

Hosting such a high-profile event will highlight the strategic importance of the venue and its role in supporting Punjab’s global investment outreach efforts.

The summit is expected to attract leading investors, global corporations, policymakers, and industry leaders, further strengthening the region’s economic profile.

Strategic Growth Opportunity for Exhicon

For Exhicon Events Media Solutions Limited, the project represents a significant step in expanding beyond event management into long-term infrastructure development. By developing and operating a major convention and exhibition centre, the company will gain a strong asset base and diversified revenue opportunities.

The Mohali Convention & Exhibition Centre project is expected to contribute to the growth of the exhibitions industry in India while also strengthening the country’s overall MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) ecosystem.
