Smart City Expo Santiago Brings Urban Leaders Together

The fourth Smart City Expo Santiago de Chile took place from July 23 to 25 at the Estación Mapocho Cultural Center, bringing together stakeholders focused on the future of urban development.

Organizers expected more than 2,500 visitors, over 70 companies and institutions, and more than 50 speakers. Discussions focused on data-driven cities, public safety, sustainable mobility, climate action and digital ecosystems.

The event also created an important platform for government collaboration, with meetings involving Chile’s 16 regional governors and 52 mayors from the Santiago metropolitan area.

World’s Poultry Congress Attracts 6,000 Delegates to Toronto

The 27th World’s Poultry Congress welcomed approximately 6,000 poultry scientists, academics, students and industry professionals from 50 countries to Toronto from July 13 to 17.

Held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the international congress explored key issues affecting the global poultry industry, including poultry health, genetics, nutrition, sustainability, production and food security.

The event featured research presentations alongside an industry exhibition, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking and business engagement across the international poultry sector.

YMCA World Council Holds Global Gathering in Toronto

The 21st YMCA World Council took place from July 19 to 25 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto, attracting more than 1,000 leaders, employees, volunteers and partners.

The program featured governance discussions, more than 45 workshops, an exhibition area, community excursions and sustainability-focused activities.

The gathering also marked a significant milestone for the YMCA in Canada, commemorating 175 years since the opening of the country’s first YMCA.

Toronto FIFA Fan Festival Attracts More Than 350,000 Visitors

Toronto recorded strong visitor activity during its FIFA World Cup programming, which included six FIFA World Cup matches and 23 days of Fan Festival activities during June and July.

Around 250,000 fans attended matches at Toronto Stadium, while more than 350,000 people visited the FIFA Fan Festival. A further 60,600 spectators watched match broadcasts at Nathan Phillips Square.

The city also reported increased pedestrian and cycling activity around the stadium, highlighting the wider economic and tourism impact of major sporting events.

Lions International Convention Brings 17,000 Delegates to Hong Kong

The 108th Lions International Convention attracted approximately 17,000 delegates to AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from July 3 to 7.

Hong Kong has previously hosted the global Lions gathering in 1992 and 2005, making the 2026 convention the city’s third time hosting the event.

The program featured plenary sessions, an exhibition, elections, educational activities and discussions around community service. Thousands of participants also took part in a large group Tai Chi activity, adding a local cultural element to the international convention.

Hong Kong AI Companies Showcase Innovation at WAIC 2026

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council presented 18 artificial intelligence companies and institutions at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai from July 17 to 20.

The major technology event featured more than 1,100 companies and over 3,000 products. HKTDC also arranged seminars, business-matching activities and networking opportunities for participating companies.

The 2026 edition marked the council’s fourth consecutive year participating in WAIC, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role in connecting technology companies with international business opportunities.

InfoComm Asia 2026 Records 6,638 Professional Attendees

InfoComm Asia 2026 welcomed 6,638 professional attendees from 77 countries and regions at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok from July 15 to 17.

International visitors represented 44.2% of total attendance, while exhibitors connected with representatives from approximately 3,800 organizations.

The show also generated significant business activity, with 700 scheduled business-matching meetings. Its invited buyer program included more than 60 participants representing nearly $73 million in approved project budgets.

Organizers have also announced that InfoComm Asia will move to Kuala Lumpur in 2027, expanding the show’s regional footprint.

INVEST Fair 2026 Attracts More Than 15,000 Visitors in Kuala Lumpur

INVEST Fair 2026 welcomed more than 15,000 visitors to the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur on July 18 and 19.

Organized by ShareInvestor Malaysia, the event featured more than 100 speakers, 40 exhibitors and over 70 hours of programming focused on capital markets, stock investing, wealth management, personal finance and financial technology.

New attractions included Duit Fest, a career zone, interactive challenges and a pickleball competition, adding new engagement formats to the investment-focused event.

ICC Sydney Opens Permanent Quiet Room for Neurodivergent Visitors

International Convention Centre Sydney has strengthened its accessibility offering with the opening of a permanent Quiet Room accredited by Aspect, also known as Autism Spectrum Australia.

The low-stimulation space is designed to support visitors experiencing sensory overload, anxiety or fatigue during events.

The room features soft lighting, comfortable furnishings and chemical-free cleaning products, with capacity for up to four people. ICC Sydney is also providing a visual story and sensory maps to help neurodivergent visitors prepare for their experience at the venue.

The initiative reflects a broader industry trend toward making convention centres and exhibition venues more inclusive and accessible.

Xinjiang Heritage Exhibition Targets 200,000 Visits

The 2026 “Xinjiang, A Land of Wonders” exhibition was held from July 30 to August 3 at the Shihezi Convention and Exhibition Center in China.

Organizers described the event as the largest edition to date, featuring more than 650 examples of intangible cultural heritage and targeting approximately 200,000 visits.

The exhibition combined traditional music and dance with regional food, digital experiences, educational activities and a cultural marketplace. A second venue also introduced seven permanent heritage displays, extending the exhibition’s cultural legacy beyond the event period.

The O2 Belfast Begins 10-Year Naming Rights Partnership

Belfast’s Landmark Millennium Project officially became The O2 Belfast on July 1 following a 10-year naming rights agreement between O2 and The Odyssey Trust.

The destination includes Northern Ireland’s largest indoor arena, which can accommodate up to 11,200 people, as well as the W5 Science and Discovery Centre, restaurants and leisure attractions.

As part of the partnership, O2 has upgraded mobile connectivity and introduced priority ticket access. A new O2 Blueroom is also scheduled to open in September.

The rebranding represents a significant commercial development for one of Belfast’s major entertainment and events destinations.

ICC Belfast Executive Joins AIPC Board as Observer

Ciara Davidson, director of transformation and governance at ICC Belfast, has been appointed as an observer to the Board of the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC).

Davidson will contribute an operational and emerging-leader perspective to the international convention centre association. She will also lead AIPC’s Future Shapers Task Force after previously completing and mentoring teams involved in the organization’s leadership program.

The appointment highlights the growing importance of emerging leadership and operational expertise within the global convention industry.

Barcelona Boat Show Expands with New SeaMotion Area

The 63rd Barcelona International Boat Show is scheduled for October 14 to 18 at Port Vell, with more than 130 brands already confirmed.

Organizers are introducing a new covered pavilion at Moll de la Fusta dedicated to scuba diving, water sports, marinas and port services.

The show will also feature the new Experience Water area, offering product demonstrations, electric personal watercraft and dinghy sailing activities.

Fira de Barcelona is organizing the event in partnership with the Spanish National Marine Industry Association (ANEN), with the expanded format designed to provide visitors with more interactive experiences.

EuChemS Chemistry Congress Brings Scientists to Antwerp

The 10th European Chemical Society Chemistry Congress was held from July 12 to 16 at A Room with a ZOO in Antwerp, Belgium.

Hosted by the Royal Flemish Chemical Society, the congress featured plenary lectures, workshops, poster presentations and activities designed for early-career scientists.

An Industry Day connected academic research with commercial and industrial applications, with discussions covering sustainability, energy, digitalization and industrial chemistry.

Barcelona Wine Week Reports More Than 90% Space Reserved

Barcelona Wine Week 2027 is showing strong early demand ahead of its return from February 8 to 10, 2027, at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue.

More than 90% of exhibition space has already been reserved, more than six months before the event.

Organizers expect the upcoming edition to feature approximately 1,300 exhibitors, more than 90 designations of origin and quality labels, and participation from 16 Spanish regions.

The event is also expected to generate more than 13,500 business meetings, alongside tastings, educational sessions and specialist programming focused on aged wines.

The strong advance booking rate underlines the continued importance of wine exhibitions as platforms for international trade, networking and business development.

Titanic Exhibition Coming to Farnborough

Titanic Exhibition: Farnborough will run from October 23 to November 21 at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The four-week exhibition will combine authentic Titanic artefacts with recreated shipboard environments, interactive displays and passenger stories.

Featured objects include an original Titanic deckchair, cabin fragments, a lifeboat plaque and part of the ship’s aft Grand Staircase.

Visitors will also receive the identity of an individual passenger and follow their story throughout the exhibition, creating a more immersive visitor experience.
