The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has reported another landmark year, welcoming 756,721 delegates in 2025 and contributing an estimated RM1.5 billion (approximately US$367 million) to Malaysia’s economy through business events, international conferences, exhibitions, and meetings.
Among the total attendance, 59,013 international delegates participated in events hosted at the venue, reinforcing Kuala Lumpur’s growing reputation as one of Asia’s leading destinations for global meetings and conventions.
Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Strengthens Malaysia’s ICCA Rankings
The convention centre hosted 16 international meetings that qualified for the International Congress and Convention Association> (ICCA) GlobeWatch 2025 Rankings. These events played a significant role in Malaysia securing 32nd position among 142 countries, while Kuala Lumpur ranked 29th globally with 73 qualifying international association meetings.
Notably, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre contributed nearly 22 percent of the city’s qualifying meetings, highlighting its importance in attracting high-profile international association events.
Robert Hatton-Jones, Deputy General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said the ICCA rankings demonstrate Malaysia’s ability to successfully host international association meetings that generate lasting economic and knowledge-based benefits.
He noted that every international congress creates valuable opportunities for collaboration among researchers, policymakers, industry experts, and global business leaders while supporting innovation and economic development.
Strong International Conference Pipeline for 2026
Looking ahead, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has already confirmed 19 international association conferences for 2026.
These events are expected to attract more than 22,600 delegates and generate approximately RM60 million (US$14.7 million) in economic impact for Malaysia.
Major conferences scheduled for 2026 include:
- International Congress of the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control
- Congress of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies
- SPE/ICoTA Asia Pacific Well Intervention and P&A Conference and Exhibition
- 16th Asian & Oceania Epilepsy Congress
These global gatherings are expected to further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for international business events.
New International Exhibitions Expand Event Portfolio
The convention centre also broadened its exhibition calendar by hosting several events making their Malaysian debut.
Among the new exhibitions were:
- Malaysia Brand Day
- Remarkable Shandong Agricultural Trade Expo
- Malaysia International Textile & Tourism Expo
These exhibitions attracted industry professionals, exhibitors, and buyers from multiple sectors while enhancing Kuala Lumpur’s international exhibition landscape.
More Than 15 International Conferences Confirmed for 2027
The positive momentum continues beyond 2026, with Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre already securing more than 15 international association conferences for 2027.
These early confirmations demonstrate continued confidence from global event organizers and reinforce the venue’s long-term position within the international meetings industry.
Hatton-Jones emphasized that increasing competition among global business event destinations makes industry collaboration and continuous innovation essential for maintaining competitiveness.
