Messe München Reports Record Financial Performance in 2025 with EUR 594 Million Revenue and Strong Global Growth

Messe München Achieves Best Financial Performance in Its History

Messe München has announced its strongest financial performance to date, reporting record-breaking results for the 2025 fiscal year despite global economic uncertainties and geopolitical challenges. The exhibition organizer achieved exceptional growth in revenue, profitability, exhibitor participation, and visitor numbers, demonstrating the continued importance of international trade fairs in supporting business growth and global collaboration.

Announcing the annual financial results, CEOs Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel described 2025 as the most successful year in the company’s history. They stated that the outstanding performance highlights the resilience of the exhibition industry and reinforces the role of trade fairs as essential platforms for innovation, economic development, and international business networking.

Record Revenue and Profit Reflect a Successful Exhibition Calendar

Messe München generated EUR 594 million in consolidated group revenue during fiscal year 2025, while group EBITDA reached EUR 175 million and consolidated net income totaled EUR 99 million. These record financial figures were driven by an exceptionally busy exhibition calendar and strong participation from exhibitors and visitors worldwide.

The Munich exhibition grounds alone contributed EUR 517 million in revenue, EUR 152 million in EBITDA, and EUR 88 million in net income. During the year, the venue hosted 18 Messe München-owned exhibitions, participations, and partnerships, along with 74 guest events, welcoming 34,600 exhibitors and more than 2.5 million visitors. These results underline the company’s ability to attract global business communities despite challenging market conditions.

World-Leading Trade Fairs Fuel Business Growth

A major factor behind the company’s outstanding performance was the success of several internationally renowned trade fairs held throughout 2025. Leading exhibitions including BAU, automatica, drinktec, transport logistic, bauma, and IAA MOBILITY attracted exhibitors and visitors from around the world, generating significant business opportunities across construction, manufacturing, logistics, mobility, automation, and industrial technology sectors.

These flagship events continue to strengthen Munich’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier destinations for international exhibitions while creating valuable networking and investment opportunities for businesses across multiple industries.

International Operations Continue to Expand

International business remained one of Messe München’s strongest growth drivers in 2025. The company successfully organized 42 exhibitions outside Germany, attracting more than 17,000 exhibitors and over 1.8 million visitors across international markets.

Its global exhibition portfolio continued to expand with successful launches such as analytica USA and transport logistic Americas, strengthening the company’s presence in North America. In China, major exhibitions including IE expo China, Laser China, productronica China, and electronica China delivered impressive results, reflecting continued demand for advanced technology and industrial exhibitions.

India also remained an important strategic market for the company. Flagship events such as IFAT India, electronica India, and analytica Lab India continued to attract strong participation from exhibitors, buyers, and industry professionals, reinforcing Messe München’s growing influence across South Asia.

International Expansion Supports Long-Term Growth

Commenting on the company’s international strategy, CEOs Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel emphasized that overseas operations have become an essential pillar of Messe München’s future growth.

They noted that international exhibitions help diversify revenue streams and make the business more resilient to market fluctuations. According to the company, expanding its global exhibition portfolio will remain a strategic priority in the coming years.

The CEOs also highlighted that international expansion benefits Munich itself, as many exhibitors and visitors first engage with Messe München’s brands abroad before attending its world-leading exhibitions in Germany. In 2025, international participation continued to grow, with 40.7% of visitors and 60.2% of exhibitors at the company’s own events coming from outside Germany.

Strategic Expansion Continues in 2026

Building on its record-breaking performance, Messe München has already taken important steps to strengthen its global footprint in 2026. In January, the company acquired U.S.-based Tradeshow Logic, marking another milestone in its North American expansion strategy. It also established a new subsidiary to support future growth across the region.

The company recently launched IFAT Saudi Arabia, which has become the most successful international market entry in the history of its environmental technology exhibition portfolio. Meanwhile, bauma China 2026 will be hosted across two exhibition centres for the first time, reflecting increasing exhibitor demand and continued market growth.

Investment in Innovation and Digital Transformation

Messe München is also investing heavily in the future of its exhibition infrastructure. The company plans to invest approximately EUR 80 million by 2030 to modernize its exhibition grounds through infrastructure improvements, expanded photovoltaic systems, upgraded digital signage, and advanced artificial intelligence solutions.

Its AI strategy will focus on delivering personalized visitor experiences, intelligent exhibitor matchmaking, enhanced analytics, and improved lead generation, helping exhibitors and visitors maximize business opportunities while improving operational efficiency.

Positive Outlook for 2026

Although some of Messe München’s largest exhibitions follow a rotational schedule that will moderate revenue at the Munich venue during 2026, the company remains optimistic about its business outlook. During the current year, Messe München plans to organize 15 own exhibitions, participations, and partnerships, alongside 93 guest events, ensuring another active exhibition calendar despite global economic uncertainty.

Management believes that continued investment in digital innovation, sustainability, and international expansion will support long-term growth while strengthening the company’s competitive position within the global exhibition industry.

Messe München Generates Significant Economic Impact

Beyond its strong financial performance, Messe München continues to make a substantial contribution to Germany’s economy. According to a Prognos economic impact study, the company’s exhibitions generate approximately EUR 4.45 billion in annual economic value and support around 34,400 jobs across Germany.

This economic contribution extends beyond the exhibition industry, benefiting hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, retailers, logistics companies, and numerous local businesses. With record financial results, expanding international operations, and continued investment in innovation, Messe München is well positioned to maintain its leadership in the global trade fair industry while driving economic growth and fostering international business collaboration.
