The National Outdoor Event Association (NOEA) is set to give event professionals an early insight into its upcoming Training Day through a special interactive session at The Showman’s Show. The in-the-round discussion will bring together specialists from across the events industry, policing, licensing, medical services and security to explore key challenges affecting event safety and management.
Scheduled for midday on the second day of The Showman’s Show, the NOEA Training Day Taster will focus on practical issues facing event organisers and suppliers, including Protect Duty, Martyn’s Law, Safety Advisory Groups (SAGs) and the evolving responsibilities involved in delivering safe and successful events.
NOEA Training Day Taster to Focus on Event Safety and Compliance
The session is designed to provide visitors with practical insights into the changing regulatory and operational landscape of outdoor events. Protect Duty, commonly associated with Martyn’s Law, will be a central topic, with discussions examining what preparedness means in practice, how responsibilities are shared and how organisers can demonstrate that appropriate safety planning has been undertaken.
By bringing together professionals from different areas of the industry, the session aims to encourage an open exchange of knowledge and perspectives. The in-the-round format will feature conversations around a central table, with audience members encouraged to contribute to the discussion and share their experiences.
The approach is intended to make the session relevant to professionals involved in event planning, operations, security, medical provision and regulatory compliance.
Industry Experts to Share Practical Experience
The NOEA Training Day Taster will feature a panel of industry representatives, including Rob Walley of Controlled Events, Superintendent Steve Fosher, Head of NaTSCO, solicitor Philip Day, Alysha Sargent of Barnstorm Events, Katie Miller of MB Medical Solutions, Adrian Hodgson of LAEOG and Oliver Gardiner of Vespasian Security.
Their combined expertise will bring different perspectives to discussions about event safety, security planning, legal responsibilities and the practical considerations involved in organising outdoor events.
The session will offer attendees an opportunity to better understand how event professionals can prepare for emerging requirements, coordinate with relevant stakeholders and strengthen safety procedures across different types of events.
Dedicated NOEA Training Day Planned for Spring 2027
The session at The Showman’s Show will also introduce the wider objectives of NOEA’s dedicated Training Day, scheduled to take place in spring 2027. Supported by GL Events, Qdos and The Showman’s Show, the initiative is intended to provide more in-depth professional development across the disciplines that contribute to safe, resilient and successful event delivery.
The upcoming Training Day will build on the practical discussions introduced during the taster session, offering event professionals an opportunity to develop their knowledge, explore industry challenges and strengthen their understanding of effective event management.
For organisers and suppliers, professional training is increasingly important as expectations around public safety, security, compliance and operational planning continue to evolve. Initiatives such as the NOEA Training Day aim to support the industry by encouraging knowledge-sharing and helping professionals prepare for the responsibilities associated with modern event delivery.
Event Medical Association to Host Networking Session
Alongside the second-day training preview, the programme will feature a separate networking opportunity organised by the Event Medical Association on Day One of The Showman’s Show.
The association will host a meet-and-greet session at the Meetings Tent from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. The gathering will bring together new and existing members to discuss current issues affecting medical provision across the events sector.
The session will provide an opportunity for professionals to connect, exchange experiences and discuss the challenges involved in delivering medical services at events of different sizes and types.
Medical provision remains an important component of event safety planning, requiring effective coordination between organisers, medical teams, security personnel and other operational stakeholders. The networking session is intended to support these professional connections and encourage further collaboration across the sector.
The Showman’s Show to Support Industry Knowledge-Sharing
Through its activities across both days of The Showman’s Show, NOEA will provide members and the wider events community with opportunities to connect with industry specialists, discuss emerging challenges and learn from practical experience.
The combination of the Event Medical Association meet-and-greet and the NOEA Training Day Taster will address complementary aspects of event delivery, from medical planning to legal responsibilities, security and public safety.
As the events industry continues to respond to changing expectations and regulatory developments, opportunities for professional development and collaboration remain essential. The sessions will give visitors an opportunity to engage with relevant topics while gaining an early understanding of the broader training programme planned for spring 2027.
With a focus on practical knowledge, audience participation and cross-industry expertise, NOEA’s programme at The Showman’s Show aims to encourage informed discussion and support the continued development of safe and well-managed events.
