PCMA Strengthens Commitment to Sustainable Business Events
Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has announced two major milestones that reinforce its leadership in advancing sustainability across the global business events industry. The organisation revealed the formation of its inaugural Convene 4 Climate advisory board while also celebrating its flagship event receiving Platinum certification from the Events Industry Council for excellence in sustainable event practices.
These achievements mark a significant step forward in PCMA’s mission to create measurable environmental impact and promote long-term sustainability solutions for the meetings and conventions sector.
Global Advisory Board to Expand Convene 4 Climate’s Reach
PCMA has officially launched the first Convene 4 Climate advisory board, bringing together 14 industry leaders from around the world. The board includes experts from the meetings and events industry, as well as professionals from climate science, conservation, and finance sectors.
The advisory board has been created as an extension of PCMA’s annual Convene 4 Climate event, with the goal of broadening the movement’s global influence and ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex sustainability challenges facing the events industry.
Advisory Board to Drive Regional and Global Sustainability Action
The newly formed board will serve as local ambassadors for the Convene 4 Climate initiative, helping to amplify its message across international markets. Members will also provide strategic guidance on regional sustainability priorities, identify emerging technologies and innovations, and support the ongoing growth and development of the annual event.
In addition, the board will contribute to the creation of practical sustainability-focused resources designed to help event professionals implement meaningful environmental strategies and deliver measurable industry impact.
PCMA Leadership Highlights Global Collaboration
Sherrif Karamat, President and CEO of PCMA and Corporate Event Marketing Association (CEMA), described the advisory board as a critical step in transforming ambition into action.
He stated that the formation of the board represents a pivotal moment in scaling Convene 4 Climate’s global mission, bringing together diverse expertise and regional perspectives to deliver practical, measurable sustainability solutions while driving transformative change across the industry.
Flagship PCMA Event Earns Platinum Sustainability Certification
Alongside the advisory board announcement, PCMA also confirmed that its flagship event has achieved Platinum certification from the Events Industry Council, one of the highest recognitions for sustainable event management practices.
The certification reflects PCMA’s strong commitment to implementing environmentally responsible event operations, reducing environmental impact, and setting new standards for sustainability excellence across the meetings and conventions industry.
Setting a New Standard for Sustainable Events Worldwide
These latest milestones position PCMA as a driving force in shaping the future of sustainable business events globally. Through strategic collaboration, measurable action, and industry-wide engagement, the organisation continues to lead efforts to make sustainability a core pillar of event planning and execution worldwide.
As climate responsibility becomes an increasingly urgent priority for the events sector, PCMA’s initiatives are expected to inspire broader adoption of innovative sustainability practices across the global meetings industry.
