UK Rigging has announced a new career opportunity for professionals looking to join the fast-paced live events and entertainment industry. The company is recruiting a Venue Rigging Operations Manager on an 18-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, offering candidates the opportunity to work with one of the UK’s leading venue rigging specialists.
The position will be based at UK Rigging’s headquarters in Bolton, with an initial three-month training period that includes regular travel to the company’s Edinburgh office. As the business continues to expand across the UK, the role also presents strong potential for future permanent employment opportunities.
Exciting Leadership Opportunity in the Live Events Industry
UK Rigging has built a strong reputation for delivering safe, professional, and high-quality venue rigging services for live events, exhibitions, concerts, conferences, and entertainment productions. The company is now seeking an organised, proactive, and confident professional to oversee its Venue Rigging department during an 18-month maternity leave cover.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations while maintaining the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and exceptional customer service.
Role Based in Bolton with Initial Training in Edinburgh
Although the permanent position will eventually return to the Edinburgh office after the maternity cover period, UK Rigging has confirmed that the temporary replacement will primarily be based at its Bolton headquarters.
During the first three months, the selected candidate will spend at least three days each week in Edinburgh, working alongside the current Operations Manager to ensure a smooth transition. The remaining working days will be spent at the Bolton office, allowing close collaboration with the wider operational team.
Managing Venue Rigging Operations Across the UK
As Venue Rigging Operations Manager, the successful applicant will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Venue Rigging department while managing a hybrid team of three employees located across Bolton and Edinburgh.
The position requires strong organisational skills, effective communication, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Daily responsibilities include leading departmental meetings, monitoring team performance and wellbeing, managing client enquiries, overseeing event deadlines, and ensuring compliance documentation is completed accurately and on schedule.
The role also involves supervising layout drawings, roof analysis reports, and handling last-minute project updates that are common within the live events sector.
Working Closely with Clients and Industry Partners
The Operations Manager will collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders, including event organisers, venues, production companies, and freelance Rigging Managers operating across the United Kingdom.
In addition to office-based responsibilities, UK Rigging encourages the successful candidate to undertake venue visits, observe rigging operations, and build strong relationships with clients while gaining practical insight into live event delivery.
Skills and Experience Required
UK Rigging is looking for candidates with a technical background in live production, events, or a related industry. While previous rigging experience would be advantageous, it is not considered essential.
Applicants should have experience managing small teams, including remote staff, along with excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
Strong computer literacy is essential, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel. Familiarity with Google Workspace and CAD software would be beneficial, although full training will be provided for candidates willing to learn new systems.
The company is seeking individuals who can remain calm under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and continuously improve operational processes.
Working Schedule and Employment Details
The Venue Rigging Operations Manager position is a full-time, office-based role working 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Venue Rigging.
The position also includes participation in a paid emergency remote cover rota, ensuring operational support outside standard working hours when required.
Employee Benefits
UK Rigging offers an attractive employee benefits package designed to support both professional development and personal wellbeing. Employees receive 25 days of annual leave plus statutory holidays, with additional holiday rewards available for long-term service.
The company also provides an extended Christmas and New Year shutdown, regular team-building activities, access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering mental health support and healthcare cashback, a Cycle to Work scheme, and onsite occupational therapy services.
Opportunity to Join a Growing Industry Leader
As demand for professional venue rigging services continues to increase across the UK’s live events industry, this vacancy represents an excellent opportunity for experienced operations professionals seeking a rewarding leadership role. With structured training, career development opportunities, and the possibility of future permanent employment, UK Rigging continues to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading venue rigging specialists.
