Exhibition in Vijayawada celebrate World Photography Day

On Thursday, Rajya Sabha Member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana addressed the World Photography Day (August 19) and Foundation Day celebrations exhibition in Vijayawada, organized by Andhra Pradesh Photography Akademi with the cooperation of Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Culture Commission. He admired the efforts of photographers in capturing and preserving the memories of important events for future generations.

The Akademi organized an exhibition of 75 photographs which was part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations across the country. The photos that were displayed in the exhibition were the entries sent by photojournalists from all over India.

Venkata Ramana said that photojournalists take risks to capture all the important events. The countrywide celebrations of 75 years of Independence have been captured beautifully by photojournalists.

Government Chief Whip, Mudunuri Prasad Raju said that the state government will increase all the necessary support to the photojournalists.

K. Hemachandra Reddy, Chairman Professor of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, and other members of the jury selected the entries for the exhibition and praised all the participants.

Furthermore, the Akademi presented ‘Living Legends’ Awards to particular photojournalists which include Mukesh Parpiani who is a veteran photojournalist from Mumbai, K. Vishwender Reddy who is a photographer and actor from Hyderabad; and O.P. Sharma who is a photographer as well as a doctor
People who were present on the occasion include M. Ravindranath who is President of Akademi, director R.V. Sharma, Golla Narayana Rao who is Andhra Arts Academy’s chairman, and jury members – S. Vijay Kumar Reddy and Dr. K. Sundar and many more.
