The Dubai Health Authority stated Pfizer BioNTech booster jabs are monitored on appointment basis only.
Dubai Health Authority began administering Pfizer BioNTech, Covid-19 booster jabs for people from certain categories.
The health authority outlined the eligibility criteria mentioning that the booster can be taken six months post second vaccine. Residents aged 60 and above, with patients in long-term care settings, aged 18 and above are eligible for the booster. Additionally those from age 50 to 59 with chronic diseases, can avail the booster, after consulting with the physician.
Appointments for booster jabs can be booked via its app or calling the helpline number. According to the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention, protocols will be set for providing booster shots and vaccines. Updating on the current situation, Dr Noura Al Ghaithi spokesperson of UAE health sector, 94.78% of the population is vaccinated with the first dose, while 84.3% are fully vaccinated. Dr Al Ghaithi added that the protocol does not include the groups who have received Sputnik V or Pfizer BioNTech doses, fully vaccinated with Sinopharm.
The Health Authority requested individuals who are eligible for the booster to take booster shots on time to protect their health and ensure safety from covid-19.
