An exhibition on an Environment-friendly silo rapid loading system (RLS) for speedy transportation of coal was organized by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and is a part of the First Mile Connectivity (FMC) initiative taken by the Government of India. The exhibition is a major industrial attraction at ProPack Odisha 2022 arranged by the Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises (OASME) in Bhubaneswar.
The exhibition represented the achievements of the company including performance and productivity in the previous fiscal year 2021-22 as well as it also displayed the socio-economic and environment-friendly initiatives taken by the company in Odisha.
The thing that attracted the visitors most to the exhibition was the model of the FMC project. It describes how the company will transport coal by environment-friendly processes using a conveyor belt and the automatic loading of coal for speedy dispatch.
It is expected that by 2023-24, MCL will have at least 9 FMC projects in the coal fields and will have a total loading capacity of 131 million tonnes per annum.
MCL is the largest coal-producing as well as a profit-making subsidiary of Coal India. Also, the company offers numerous opportunities to MSMEs. During the fiscal year 2021-22, the total procurement of goods by MCL was over 41.6 percent which is equal to Rs 185 crore, and was from the MSE sector. On the other hand, the total procurement of services in the same year was more than 135 crore. Almost 1297 MSEs were profited by MCL.
The exhibition started on August 25, 2022, and run till August 28, 2022.
